I started my career in medical communications immediately after graduating with a first class life sciences degree from the University of Bristol. Since then I have fulfilled senior account handling and lead medical writing roles both fulltime and in a freelance capacity for over 20 years. I am based in London.
A member of The Difference Collective (www.thedifferencecollective.com) and the Healthcare Communications Association (HCA), I am experienced in formulating insight-driven strategies and writing for all audiences, from specialist to consumer.
I have trained, mentored and coached other medical writers on how to compose content that is fluent, focused, persuasive, coherent, credible, concise, appropriately pitched and simple without being simplistic.
I am experienced with domestic and international communications programmes for UK, European and US clients and fully up to speed with regulatory frameworks, industry codes of practice and cultural nuances.
I am familiar with most major therapy areas especially oncology and cardiovascular medicine and have special expertise in the biologics and biosimilars field.
For four years I sat on the Chelsea Research Ethics Committee and have taken part in a number of voluntary patient advocacy initiatives.
My interests include clinical trial recruitment and retention, medical ethics, patient empowerment / participatory medicine, AI-driven drug discovery, the digital revolution in healthcare, behavioural psychology and trends in pharmaceutical development and marketing, particularly precision medicine and targeted therapies.
